In the unlikely event that the kids get bored of the pool or beach

For some action packed adventure, head for Babcock Wilderness Adventures, where you can lunch on alligator “bites” and barbeque before taking a swamp buggy tour through the Telegraph Cypress Swamp among four natural habitats. Bring your camera and snap keepsake photos (see Outdoor Action & Adventure section for more information).
Wild Florida comes alive at Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center’s Cedar Point Park location in Englewood rich in young sea life. Or show the kids the wonder of wildlife being cared for at the Peace River Wildlife Center, a rehabilitation center within Ponce de Leon Park in Punta Gorda.
In the afternoon, head out to Don Pedro Island State Park via Grande Tours’ ferry from the Fishery Restaurant Docks in Placida, or launch a kayak from the park’s landbase on Placida Road. Pack a picnic for lunch at the pavilion. Kids of all ages will enjoy searching for shells, swimming and fishing on this barrier island park accessible only by boat.

Geocaching
Kids will love to trying this new craze sweeping the world.
This is a high-tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world by adventure seekers equipped with GPS devices. The basic idea is to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, outdoors and then share your experiences online. Geocaching is enjoyed by people from all age groups, with a strong sense of community and support for the environment.

Shark Teeth Hunt/Shell Collecting
Lose yourself for hours on the sandy beaches of Stump Pass Beach State Park while hunting for sharks teeth or collecting shells. Costs nothing but it's excellent fun!
