Ever wondered why they call Florida the ‘Sunshine
State?’
Well, the sun shines for around two-thirds of all
daylight hours throughout the year and Florida has the highest year
round average temperatures of any US state.
In the Rotonda region the weather is characterized
as sub-tropic, where temperatures in both summer and winter are
checked by the tempering influence of the Gulf of Mexico.
During the summer the temperature is usually in the
low 90s during the day and in the low 70s during the night. The
annual average temperature is 73.9 degrees.
